A Founding Document of the Ekhosystem
The Constitution
of the Ekhosystem
The Declaration tells the world why.
This Constitution tells each other how.
Preamble
We, the artists and fans of the Ekhosystem, in order to return music to the hands that make it and the hearts that carry it, establish this Constitution.
It does not invent. It remembers what was always true, and asks each of us to give only what we choose to share with one another.
Article I · Ekho
Ekho binds itself to build the rails, and never to own what travels on them.
FirstWhat you build here belongs to you. The bond between an artist and a fan belongs to those two people, and to no company on earth.
Including this one.
SecondWe receive a transparent, automatic share to fund the Ekhosystem.
ThirdWe build in the open: every rule visible, every change announced. Trust is not claimed here. It is demonstrated.
Article II · The Artist
The artist affirms that their work has worth, and will no longer be given away by default.
FirstI will price my work. It carries my time, my energy, and my heart, and its price will say so.
SecondDevotion informs my decision of who comes closer.
Money alone never will.
ThirdThe support I receive from my community is recognized and answered. Those who have carried me furthest receive the most in return.
That is the echo.
Article III · The Fan
The fan affirms that music is worth paying for, and that the payment should reach the maker.
FirstI pay for what moves me. Free taught the world that music is worth nothing, creating the problems we came here to solve.
SecondNothing I give is forgotten. Every hour, every show, every friend brought along: it becomes part of my story, and my story stays with me.
I share it with the people I choose.
ThirdI cannot buy my way to the front. Nobody can. The best show is not watched; it is an active collaboration between the artist and the audience. Bringing devoted fans closest makes the best show for everyone.
Article IV · Belonging
This Constitution is not enforced. It is chosen.
Those who live by it belong to the Ekhosystem. Those who choose otherwise may depart freely. There is only presence, or absence.
It needs no amendment. What was always true cannot be revised.
Nothing here was invented. It was remembered.
